Dose and Duration
Administer by slow IV injection at a rate not exceeding 5 mg/ minute (max 50 mg)

Adult: stop infusion of heparin, then administer 25–50 mg of protamine by slow IV injection
Child 1 month–18 years: dose same as for over dosage of heparin by intravenous injection
Adult: 1 mg of protamine neutralises 100 IU of heparin. Administer 25–50 mg by slow IV injection then the remaining dose by IV infusion over 8–16 hours
Child 1 month–18 years: 1 mg neutralises 100 IU of heparin. Give 50–100% of total dose by IV injection then the remainder by IV infusion over 8–16 hours
Adult and child: 1 mg neutralizes 100 IU by intermittent IV injection or by continuous IV infusion (consult product literature)
