Antihelminthic. Effective against adult cestode infections in the intestines. It is not effective for neurocysticerosis.

Adult and child > 6 years: 2 g single dose after a light meal, followed after 2 hours by a laxative (bisacodyl)

Child 2–6 years: 1 g single dose

Child < 2 years: 500 mg single dose

  • Chronic constipation

  • Chew the tablet thoroughly or crush then swallow down with water

  • Give an antiemetic before treatment
