Uses

  • Inflammatory conditions of the eye requiring antibiotic prophylaxis

Dose and Duration

Inflammatory conditions of the eye requiring antibiotic prophylaxis

Adult and child:: apply 1–2 drops up to 6 times a day

Ointment: apply a small amount of ointment into the conjuctival sac 3–4 times a day, or once at bed time if eye drops are used during the day

Contraindications

  • Herpes simplex keratitis
  • Varicella and other viral infection of the eyes
  • Fungal diseases of the eyes
  • Mycobacterial eye infections
  • Hypersensitivity

Side Effects

  • Ocular discomfort, keratitis, eye irritation

Patient Instructions

  • Only use this medicine for your eyes
  • See your doctor if eye pain, redness, swelling or irritation worsens or persists
  • Do not wear contact lenses or remove them before treatment and replace them 15 minutes after treatment
  • Discard remaining eye drops 1 month after first opening

⚠️ Caution

  • Exclude ocular viral and fungal disease before use
  • Discontinue if serious reactions or hypersensitivity occur
  • Prolonged use may result into ocular hypertension or glaucoma; risk is higher in diabetic patients
  • May slow corneal wound healing
  • Ointments should be applied after the eye drops
