5% + 10%, Total iodine 130 mg/ml

Pre-operative thyrotoxicosis
Neonatal Thyrotoxicosis
Dose and Duration

Pre-operative thyrotoxicosis
Adult, child and neonate:
0.1–0.3 ml diluted well in milk or water every 8 hours for 6 days
Neonatal thyrotoxicosis
Neonate:
0.05–0.1 ml taken 3 times daily

Hypersensitivity to iodine or iodide

Hypersensitivity reactions including coryza-like symptoms
Headache
Lacrimation, conjunctivitis
Pain in salivary glands, laryngitis

Do not use for long periods since its long-term effect tends to diminish
Use with caution in children
Stop breast-feeding since iodine concentrates in breast-milk and poses a danger of neonatal hypothyroidism
