Dosage Forms

Enteric coated tablet

200 mg

Uses

  • Mild to moderate pain
  • Painful menstruation
  • Headache
  • Acute migraine attack
  • Pain in children
  • Pain due to rheumatic disease
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Fever

Dose and Duration

All uses
  • Adult: 200–400 mg every 6–8 hours
  • Child 8–12 years: 200 mg every 6–8 hours
  • Child 3–7 years: 100 mg every 6–8 hours
  • Child 1–2 years: 50 mg every 6–8 hours
  • Child 3 months–1 year: 20–40 mg/kg daily in divided doses
Taken when necessary. Avoid prolonged use

Contraindications

  • Active peptic ulcer disease
  • Children <3 months and <7 kg
  • Allergy to NSAIDs
  • Asthma
  • Rhinitis
  • Angioedema
  • Blood coagulation disorders
  • Severe liver disease
  • Severe kidney disease
  • Heart failure
  • Severe malnutrition
  • Uncorrected dehydration
  • Shock
  • Severe infection

Side Effects

  • Stomach upset, peptic ulcer
  • Allergic reactions
  • Dizziness

Interactions

  • Methotrexate (increased risk of methotrexate toxicity)
  • Other NSAIDs (increased risk of side effects)

Patient Instructions

  • Take with or after food
  • Take with plenty of fluids

Pregnancy

  • Do not use

Breast-feeding

  • Can be used

⚠️ Caution

  • Reduce dose in elderly
  • NSAID may cause acute asthma attacks
  • Can be combined with paracetamol to increase pain relief
