Dose and Duration
Hypertensive emergencies (including during pregnancy)
Adult: 5‒10 mg diluted with 10 ml sodium
chloride 0.9%, by slow IV injection over 20 minutes. Repeat
after 20‒30 minutes. Check blood pressure regularly
Hypertension (with another antihypertensive)
Initially, 25 mg every 12 hours orally, increased if necessary
to maximum 50 mg every 12 hours
Heart failure
Adult: 20 mg by slow IV injection over 20
minutes
