Prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency
Muscle cramps associated with pregnancy
Dose and Duration
▼
Calcium deficiency
Give 300–600 mg every 8–12 hours before meals
Muscle cramps associated with pregnancy
Give 600 mg every 8 hours for 5 days
Contraindications

Conditions with too much calcium in urine or blood

Stomach upset, dry mouth
Increased thirst, increased urination
Allergic reaction
Irregular heartbeat
Interactions

Iron salts (reduced absorption)
Ciprofloxacin (reduced absorption)
Furosemide (risk of kidney stones and high calcium blood levels)
Zinc sulphate (reduced absorption)
Patient instructions
▼
Do not take at the same time with ciprofloxacin, zinc, or iron salts; take at least two hours apart
