Uses

  • Acne vulgaris

Dose and Duration

Acne
Adult and child: apply 1‒2 times daily after washing face with soap and water until symptoms disappear. Start with thin applications and increase amount gradually after initial irritation reduces

Contraindications

  • Wet lesions

Side Effects

  • Dry skin, erythema, peeling of skin, burning sensation, itching, skin irritation
  • Allergic reaction

Patient information

  • Wash hands before and after use
  • Initial irritation of skin usually goes away so do not stop treatment
  • Benzoyl peroxide may increase sensitivity to sunlight, avoid or minimise prolonged exposure to sunlight
  • In case of contact with eyes or mucous membranes, flush with plenty of clean water
  • May discolour clothing, hair and skin

⚠️ Caution

  • In severe acne, a topical or oral antibiotic should be used along with benzoyl peroxide
