Adult:
2.5–5 mg each morning
Contraindications

Low plasma sodium and potassium
High plasma calcium levels
Gout
Diabetes
Severe liver disease
Severe kidney disease
Side Effects

Mild stomach upset
Dehydration, dry mouth, thirst
Weakness, drowsiness, headache
Muscle pains or cramps
Low blood pressure, dizziness when standing up quickly
Electrolyte imbalance

Interactions

Calcium salts (increased risk of high calcium blood levels)
Patient instructions
▼
Increases urination so take medicine in the morning to avoid interfering with sleep
If patient feels dizzy while on medicine, they should lie down immediately, then report to health worker
Avoid standing up suddenly to avoid dizziness
Eat a lot of fresh fruits (bananas, mangoes, oranges)
